Anna Oakes is a journalist and audio producer. Prior to joining the iDeas Lab in June 2023, she spent over two years as the lead producer and co-host of Bot Love, a series with Radiotopia that was first developed in collaboration with the iDeas Lab. Bot Love – described by the New York Times as “a thought-provoking and compassionate meditation on some uneasy questions” – investigates the intimate relationships between humans and AI-powered chatbots.

Anna has worked as a producer, researcher and reporter on a number of Spanish- and English-language podcasts around culture and politics. She worked previously in print media in Madrid, at Revista Contexto and La Marea, where she reported on colonial legacies and the Franco dictatorship. She speaks fluent Spanish and German, and has an MPhil from the University of Cambridge in Comparative Literature.
