Taylor Montgomery is a doctoral student in Bioethics and Health Policy in the department of Health Policy and Management. Her primary research interests include the ethical, legal, and social implications (ELSI) of genomics and emerging technologies, as they relate to maternal and child health equity. Her research interests led her to being named a 2024 Bloomberg SPH Health Equity Scholar (HES).
Prior to coming to Hopkins, she was a diversity supplement recipient from the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute’s Division of Child Health Research and Policy (CheRP). Her research investigated genetic testing disparities within the Boston Children’s NICU, and preference heterogeneity by race and ethnicity for pediatric genomic sequencing. Taylor received her B.A. in Philosophy and Kinesiology from Rice University in 2022. She then received her MPH in Health Services Organization from the University of Texas in 2023. Her Master’s practicum explored how stakeholders’ perspectives on pediatric deep brain stimulation (pDBS) for children with psychiatric disorders can inform institutional and federal policy.
