Nathan R. Stenberg, PhD, CPT

Director of Disability

Dr. Nathan R. Stenberg is the inaugural Director of Disability at The Johns Hopkins University and Affiliate Faculty with the Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics.

Born with a developmental disability and raised in rural Minnesota, Nathan is a first-generation college graduate. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Roberts Wesleyan University, a Master of Divinity from Princeton Seminary, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Performance Historiography from the University of Minnesota.

Research Interests

  • The intersections of bioethics, consent, law, medicine, policy, trauma, and embodiment to better understand how care can unintentionally become harm.
