Mei Bucher

MBE Student

Mei Bucher is a recent graduate of Syracuse University where she received her BS in Psychology and a dual BA in Health Humanities and Ethics on the pre-medical track. She is an alumna of the Sherwin B. Nuland Summer Institute in Bioethics at Yale University, where she conducted a research project on Unit 731 and its ethical implications. Prior to joining The Berman Institute, she worked as a psychology research assistant at both the Center for Health Behavior Research & Innovation (CHBRI) and the Golisano Center for Special Needs (GCSN) in Syracuse, NY. In 2024, she completed an internship at Pun Hlaing Hospital in Yangon, Myanmar, which informed her senior capstone thesis on access to healthcare in politically unstable countries. Her primary research interests lie in clinical and research ethics, with a particular focus on moral challenges related to the use of data obtained through unethical means. In her free time, she enjoys reviewing shark b-movies and  playing with her cat, Mooncake.
