Maheen Iftikhar was raised in Houston, Texas and completed an undergraduate degree at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI. Though Appleton was a small town compared to Houston, Maheen interacted with a wide variety of people and explored a minor in Biomedical Ethics. She worked as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Intern at Lawrence where her job was to learn and educate peers about inequity and racism, as well as how to address these topics through anti-racism at our institution. This experience tied in nicely with her minor, pushing Maheen to pursue a graduate degree in Bioethics.
