Kelsie Mietla is a pulmonary critical care fellow at Johns Hopkins University. She received a BA in religious studies from the University of Virginia, an MS in bioethics from Columbia University, and an MD from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. She completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Virginia and also works as a hospitalist at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. During her time at Columbia University, her research was on ethics in end-of-life care. During residency, she did research on critical care outcomes after COVID-19 with a focus on racial disparities. Her current research at Johns Hopkins University is on the ethical implications of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), such as scarce resource allocation and improving goals of care conversations.
