Joseph Jebari, PhD

Hecht-Levi Fellow

Joey JebariĀ completed his PhD in philosophy at Georgetown University, where his research focused on the relationship between moral and political philosophy and the philosophy of biology, psychology, and the social sciences. His dissertation developed a substantive scientific account of the nature of practical normativity and then used that account to articulate an empirically tractable version of the rationalist approach to ethics. As a Hecht-Levi Fellow, Joey is interested in exploring the connection between population health and structural injustice, with a special focus on how population health research can be used to inform strategies for addressing structural injustice. He is also interested in exploring the foundations and implications of participatory research methods, especially as they relate to questions about the role that trust plays in scientific practice and knowledge production.
