John Barugahare comes from the Department of Philosophy at Makerere University in Uganda where he lectures and supervises research in the Master of Health Sciences in Bioethics program. John completed his PhD and Master of Philosophy from the University of Bergen in Norway where he focused on allocating and financing global health resources. He has taught a number of courses at Makerere University specializing in applied ethics with a narrower focus in bioethics, human rights and health rights. His research interests include research ethics mostly focusing on both conceptual and empirical ethical issues in international collaborative health-related research, medical ethics, public health ethics, a right to health, political philosophy and how to integrate critical thinking in bioethics education and research.
