Choolwe Jacobs, PhD

Fogarty International Fellow

Choolwe Jacobs comes from the University of Zambia where she is a lecturer and a researcher in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the School of Public Health. Choolwe is a social epidemiologist and a public health specialist with a nursing background. She completed her PhD in Public Health from the University of Kwa Zulu Natal, in South Africa and her Master in Public Health from the University of Otago in New Zealand. Choolwe’s research interest is in maternal, newborn, child health and adolescent health, involving various aspects of “access and rights” particularly for rural, poorest women and vulnerable. Choolwe would like to explore ethical challenges and issues within the broader context of operational and health system research, bringing in ethical dilemmas surrounding the poorest and most vulnerable women and adolescents in Zambia.
