Alexandra Helbig

MBE Student

Lexxie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and minors in Biochemistry and Philosophy from Thiel College. During her senior year she collaborated with fellow students and faculty on a research project using bacteriophages in efforts to expand their host range. This research was directed towards combatting the issue of antibiotic resistance and is part of a larger project in conjunction with SEA-PHAGES and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Aside from academics, she was also involved in student government, Greek life, and various honorary societies. Throughout her undergraduate experience, Lexxie became increasingly interested in the fields of medical ethics, clinical research, and medicine. She spent a summer completing a fellowship in a hospital located in Barcelona, Spain exploring the important connections between ethics and medicine. She is very excited to begin her studies in Bioethics as she continues pursuing her career in the medical field.
