Steven Wise, former president of the Animal Defense Legal Fund and founder and president of the Nonhuman Rights Project

Jeffrey Kahn, Director, Andreas C. Dracopoulos Director of the Berman Institute and Levi Professor of Bioethics and Public Policy

Dr. Kahn works in a variety of areas exploring the intersection of ethics and health/science policy including human and animal research ethics and ethical issues in emerging biomedical technologies. He has served on numerous federal advisory panels, including chairing the Use of Chimpanzees in Biomedical and Behavioral Research committee of the National Academics of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine.

Ruth Faden, Philip Franklin Wagley Professor of Biomedical Ethics and founder, Berman Institute

Dr. Faden, a leading scholar in the field of bioethics, is author of numerous books and articles on biomedical ethics and public policy, including A History and Theory of Informed Consent. Her current research focuses on structural justice theory, and she is co-author of the 2019 book Structural Injustice: Power, Advantage, and Human Rights.

Tom Beauchamp, Professor of Philosophy at Georgetown University and Senior Research Scholar at the Kennedy Institute of Ethics

Dr. Beauchamp’s research interests include the ethics of human subjects research and the place of universal principles and rights in biomedical ethics. A member of the staff of the National Commission for the Protection of Human Subjects of Biomedical and Behavioral Research, he is also editor of The Oxford Handbook of Ethics and Animals.
