Brian Hutler, JD, PhD

Brian Hutler is a political philosopher and legal theorist, with a J.D. and Ph.D. from UCLA’s Law and Philosophy Program. Brian’s research focuses on human rights and freedoms, and their relationship to broader political projects and policy goals. Brian’s dissertation centered on religious freedom, assessing and critiquing the availability religious exemptions in contexts such as medicine and healthcare. As a Hecht-Levi fellow, Brian will continue researching topics related to human rights and public health, including the right to medical care and the right to nutrition.
