Anna Levin is a student in the Master of Bioethics program. She graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health and French from the Johns Hopkins University in 2008, then went on to obtain her J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2011. While there, she took all the bioethics and health law courses she could take both at Loyola and as a visiting student at Tulane Law School.
Upon graduating from law school, Anna worked in compliance for a Louisiana based Medicare Advantage Organization, ensuring that the health plan’s contracts were compliant with all federal and state health care regulations. Anna and her husband Ken, an ophthalmologist, moved their family back to Baltimore in 2013 when Anna began working as an attorney for a local hospital. She sat on the hospital’s ethics committee and participated in a number of ethics consults while there. In 2015 she began working for a Federally Funded Research and Development Center in Health Policy.
There, she advises the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) and other divisions at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on issues related to a wide range of issues including the End-Stage Renal Disease Quality Incentive Program, programs stemming from the Affordable Care Act, Rural Health programs, and regulations related to Emergency Medical Services, to name a few. She also assisted with the preparation of the Ethical Framework for the Use of Consumer Generated Data in Health Care (available here: https://www.mitre.org/publications/technical-papers/an-ethical-framework-for-the-use-of-consumer-generated-data-in-health).
Anna lives with her husband Ken and their two daughters, Julia and Emma, in Harrisburg, PA
