Czarina Alfonso earned her Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry with a minor in Bioethics from Johns Hopkins in May 2024, distinguished by her athletic achievements as the university’s first three-time All-American and first Filipina American Captain of the women’s fencing team. She currently serves as a research assistant in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery on the NIH-funded clinical trial, ARBOR Telehealth.
Czarina also continues her involvement with fencing as an assistant foil coach for the Johns Hopkins women’s fencing team, mentoring former teammates. Beyond Hopkins, she champions global health equity through her nonprofit, Give It a Shot, founded in 2016, which has raised over $65,000 to provide vaccines to more than 1000 children in the Philippines. In her free time, she enjoys taking pilates classes, browsing locally owned vinyl stores, or exploring cafes in pursuit of the perfect cup of matcha.
